So How Does This Work ( Invite George McQueen)

Dunena Reid was sitting in the privet dinning room waiting for George McQueen to arrive to speck about him helping with this campaign thing that Dunena was starting to really hate his father was all over him now as he had finally step up and was taking the family name to new heights but only so long as he didn't get involved with a that woman from Australia.
Emma god he just wanted to get away from all of this and see her again and for the first time he was not just wanting to go out with her to get back at daddy dearest.
But instead of going to Australia and wooing Emma he was sitting here waiting to talk about hiring some guy to run a campaign he really can't stand for a job he could do but really dose not want to do.
"but who else is gonna do it" Dunena mumbled to him self as he eyed off a rather inviting looking bottle of champagne.
No no drinking Dunena shock his head and went back to studying the table.
Need to get my ideas across to this guy and the rest of the united states and not get drunk or high while doing it.
"Ideas need ideas" Dunena said to him self as he started out his pinstripe suit. Dunena really like pinstripe suites he looked good in them or so almost every woman he knows tells him every time he ask them if this looks ok.
It was then that some one entered the room ending Dunena train of thought.

George had waited patiently for contact and when it came, made quick work of setting up a dinner meeting with Dunena Reid someplace where they could meet and talk freely. The private dining rooms at the restaurant were perfect for that, although George would have preferred someplace less.... Well, less Muggle but one could not always get everything one wanted, at least not immediately.

George walked with a steady gait, his walking cane touching the floor for an instant at the same time his opposite foot did. He did not really need the cane but liked the effect it gave his appearance. Entering the restaurant, he grimaced as the maitre'd informed him he'd have to put away the cigarette holder as they were smoke free but did as requested, resisting the urge to turn the maitre'd's tuxedo tails into real ones. Thanking the man when he had led him back to the private room where Dunena waited, he greeted his candidate. "Good evening, Mr. Reid, or can I call you Dunena. After all, we will be working together rather closely, I hope," George spoke with a clear British accent in very crisp, no nonsense tones.

Dunena watched as the man with his cain Merlin he was so old school, really just what he need to kick frump's ass
"Yes Dunena's fine when you say Mr Reid I feel I should look around for my Father" Dunena stood and extended his hand to the man.
"Yes and if all goes well then yes we will be working together but First thing first why do you want to work for me really I'm not really that well know for well doing thing in a serious way" Dunena said back down in his chair as he gave a half smile at the serious comment as he said it.
Dunena was looking forward to his answer as most people up until his lunch speck thought his running was a joke and the others had ridden him off as a candidate before then, also it might give him an idea as to why some people felt it was a good ideas as dunena himself had no idea about why he was running or weather it was good idea.
"Apart from my winning personality" Dunena felt a joke might Lighten the oppressive atmosphere that seamed to have over taken the room since he had started talking.
Dunena Eyes fell on the bottle again man he really need to get pass this ever since his argument with his father about Emma and what was proper he had drank himself in to a stupor at his place and it had taken 2 day to get back to well acting like a Ministry candidate.
Merlin what he would give to be out of it again Dunena had a feeling that being out of it was less stressful and would make this campaign easier on him self just like the Launch speech was but that was bad and the doctor told him so if he came off the wagon again it back to the hospital and really what wood Emma say when that hit the papers His chances of getting 2nd date would be zero.
Dunena re focused on the small man in front of him and waited for an answer.

George smiled, at least it appeared to be a smile for one could never quite tell with George McQueen. He would have made a very good poker player if he played that Muggle card game. "I understand. Even at my age, I look around for my father when people say 'Mr. McQueen'. " Did he really? One could never tell whether George was being honest or saying something to fit the moment, not that it mattered right now. This was just the time to size up the candidate fully. George had been sitting forward a bit when he first sat down but at Dunena's question, he leaned back in his chair and remained silent, as if in thought before answering. "Well, the obvious answer to your question, Dunena, is a simple 'why not?'," began George in measured, calculated tones. He noticed Dunena's eyes seemed to flit towards a bottle of champagne but said nothing regarding it for now. "Let's be honest and anyone or thing would be better than having the esteemed Ronald Frump remain in office. More directly, why you because you have some fresh ideas. I've listened to your show at home in Britain and you're not afraid to say what needs to be said. A man like that is usually not afraid to do whatever has to be done to get a job done." It was George's turn to ask the question, "Would you do what it takes to get the job done as Minister?"

Dunena was sitting letting the man speck he seamed to lean back and relax as he answered with a simple 'why not' he then continue about fresh ideas then asked a question of his own.
"well that a loaded question I agree getting frump out is best. I would like to think being minister would make no diffrent to me I will say what I think and do what is best for the magical community as a whole no mater who I piss off" Dunena had not really thought to much about why he wanted to minister but he knew he would do what had to be done.
" so you want to be my campaigne manager so what plains do you have to get me elected" dunena asked deciding to get the right down to business.
Dunena sat back and got the waiters attention can I get a coffee pls and umm a menu for me and my friend " dunena decided even if this meeting didn't pan out at least he sould have a good meal.
" I was thinking I sould do get out in to the community and tell people about my feeling and stuff. Since I can't use my show to get my ideas out" dunena was trying to sound like he knew what he was talking about to give this guy a reason to trust and joine him.

George sat back in his chair and listened to Dunena's comments about wanting to run because Frump needed to be out of office. Yes, this was very good because George definitely wanted Frump out of office, too. They were very like minded about that point, even if, perhaps, they had different reasons for their desires. As for Dunena saying and doing what he thought, George thought that was rather workable for the position as well, in George's own unique way of viewing things.

"Plans, yes plans," George said with a smile. "You have a very open and 'for the people' personality. My plan would be to play up that point and make the wizarding voting community feel that yes, you are one of them. Pureblood, halfblood, and muggleborn alike." George was proud of himself that he managed to say that last part without laughing or choking. "I've taken the small liberty of obtaining a couple of your still publicity shots* that bring out those characteristics and give the wholesome, trusting image the people need to have in charge." With that, George laid the choices on the table. "Using these three in various articles, posters and flyers, we'll show the people that you can be trusted to deliver."

George paused when the waiter entered their private room to bring the menus and take the request for coffee. "Coffee for myself, also," he requested before pausing again till the waiter left the room. "Then a tour of the wizarding talk shows. Kind of like the Muggle in office here did during his campaign. You can't use your show but you can use others. There'll be some wizarding games and events going on around the country and we'll make surprise and planned appearances at them. A wizard who's not afraid to face the people. "

Dunena sat there and looked a the the photos as the man presented to him.
"I am a man of the people it's not an act. I consider my self a wizard my blood is not important" Dunena was speaking from his heart "I put up some posters and stuff" Dunena was still looking at the photo he hates the one with the sunglasses he had a big night the day before that shot he was well not happy with that photo.
"I like shots one and three but I hate the one with sunglasses on that not the best photo" Dunena was not so sure about talk shows.
"We'll talk shows there fun but they can hit you with anything I should know I work on one. But that a good and bad thing one you can really get out there but there's little control over call in and some of the other interviews are jealous of my show I'll see what bill and Ted have to say I always run everything by them there my advisers at the moment" Dunena stood and walked over to the far side of the room opening a curtain that hid the disillusion room and in walked two full size llama one started spitting at George. Bill and ted ( the Llamas) had a notice me not spell on them so he could keep the in the Muggle dinning room and the muggles would not notice them.
"really man" Dunena put a cough drop in his mouth.
"What do you think?" Dunena place the book in front of bill and Ted ( the Llamas).

George raised an eyebrow at Dunena's slightly defensive statement regarding whether his being a man of the people is not an act or not. "Mr. Reid, Dunena," he said after a pause, "You may know that. I may know that. Many of your listeners may know that. But what about the people who never heard your show? Don't listen to WWBN for the serious talk shows such as yours but for the music? How do they know you are for them if you don't get out there and play it up, or perhaps I should have said bring it to them?" George asked him. "And, I'm sorry to say," George continued, priding himself in not choking on the next part but saying it convincingly and smoothly, "Some wizards still believe blood matters, and not just pureblood ones. You have to convince them you are for them and they should be for all as well."

When Dunena reviewed the photos and made his choices, George smirked and picked up photo number two, looked at it a moment before setting it back down on the table and pulling a fourth one from his folder, a magical moving one. "Good choices. Not surprised you don't like this one, since a couple of hours later, this one was taken. Yes, Dunena, I am aware of your... Shall we refer to them as "previous indiscretions"? Yet, I still believe you can do the job as Minister of Magic and am willing to help you get there."

George shook his head as Dunena mentioned talk shows. "I don't mean the call in kind like you have been doing. There's the other kind where you have control over what's asked and who asks it. You should be familiar with them, you work with Cherry Clinger after all. Imagine the people you could reach that you wouldn't reach other wise? Do you know how big her wizarding television audience is? It's massive and world wide. And for the younger generation vote? Rincy Wind's video program... One appearance on there and it will be repeated for weeks leading up to the election. Saturation, covering the airwaves with the Wizard for All Wizards! Think about it, Dunena," he told him.

George had already heard all about the llamas thanks to the fire article in The Global Voice. He really did not expect to find that Dunena had brought them to the restaurant with them but as the curtain was pulled back, it was obvious that Dunena had been using quite a bit of magic to keep them hidden. With a flick of his hand, George quickly cast a silent spell to put a barrier between the llamas and him. Spitting was one of their most famous traits. Leaning back in his chair, he again raised his eyebrow. "Mr Reid, either you are serious about this election or you are not. The choice is yours. But I can guarantee you that if you are going to continue to drag these llamas with you everywhere you go, Frump's team will not hesitate to publicize your... Eccentricity. That in turn would lead to your 'previous indiscretions being made rather public as well. No amount of riches can save you if they begin that campaign." The smirk returning to his face, George added, "I'm sure your cute little friend you've been talking to in that land down under would love to find out what you are really like?" Yes, George investigated Dunena Reid well before making his offer to help.

Dunena listen as george speak about how some people felt that blood mattered. "I know my father and his friends are a bit that way inclined" Dunena nodded as george told him that his photos were good choices but then he pulled out that photo from is bender Dunena really hatted that photo.
"I thought father got rid of that photo and the copies. How did you get It?" Dunena mumbled unsure if george heard him. "My indiscretions are in the passed" It was good that george believed in him as a minster.
"I would like to have control over the question but I feel that would make me look like frump. like I am hiding from the people. I don't want to look like that" Dunena was sure that if he set the question the he would look like a looser.
It was then that george met Bill and Ted ( the Llamas)
"Ok man those Lamas are like family I am well I like to say serious about it but really don't know how I got in to this race. I know my Eccentricity as you call them are the worst kept secret in the wizarding world in spite of my father efforts to see that they were not" Dunena was answering in a clam and friendly manner until he mention Emma his beautiful and care free Emma.
Dunena placed his most vicious smile.
"Listen I will make your life hell, I will not allow you or anyone to Bring her in to this. My Pasted is my Past and I will inform her when it required. DO NOT Think you can threaten me and do not assume you Know any thing about me." Dunena rarely Got aggressive and almost never threaten anyone But the power his pureblood status meant that he could carry thro with this threat if need.
"I will run I will fight Frump but she is off limits that the only condition to this partnership I will even send Bill and ted to a farm in Australia or the family property But she is Not for public display till I say so, am I clear" Dunena had sat forward as he spoke and now he stay staring at george as he waited for his reply.

"No one ever gets rid of every digital copy, Mr. Reid," George said cryptically. "But be assured that if I was able to obtain a copy, there's always the possibility Frump's team can too. You need to be prepared and, should one suddenly show up, be ready to address this or any other issues you are aware of in your past." Giving Dunena a look of understanding at his barely uttered comment, Georged told, "Yes, exactly, they are in the past and let the public know this."

As Dunena spoke over the pros and cons of having control of the questions, George nodded. "Wise words, sir. That's exactly what it would look like. Be open and forthright and smile that wonderful smile of yours that the public will see the new man you are. But it's okay to have control over topics just a bit. For example, if you have a new idea for change, when we book you on Cherry's show, we'll tell her how much you would love to discuss that topic. We won't censor her questions, she's free to ask what she wants. Same with dear Miss Wind, though I believe, based on the local entertainment columnists, the big questions will be are you searching for a Mrs. Reid and where can interested parties apply," George assured him, considering how popular Dunena had become among the readers of Witch Weekly and Witches' Potions Monthly. PlayWitch was even leaking word they would be willing to have him be their centerfold during the election month, though they'd have to watch where they put the staples!

George held up both hands, palms facing outward. "Now, now, Mr. Reid, I never said I would drag her into this. But we're dealing with Frump and his cronies so I cannot speak for the other side. But if they start a mudslinging campaign with you dragging your... Family such as this pair around, we only have so much possibilities in stopping most of the publications from printing it. Most will cooperate but there's always those few scandal rags, even in the wizarding world, who will print anything, true or untrue. Whether she reads any thing and believes it or not is out of my control."

"Yes the digital age as my father calls it an in convent. I don't think frump will bring up my past as i can bring up some issues from his past also" Dunena was well aware of frump short coming and if frump played that game so could he.
Dunena flashed his smile as George spoke of the smile
"Yes Cherry's show is good but she know me and that could create some problems, as for a hunt for Mrs Reid I would be against that" Dunena was not in the market for any woman he was set on Emma as the future Mrs Reid all he need was to get her to agree.
It was then that he heard him referring to Emma after he gave George a talking to George gave his replay.
"It will be your job to make sure that Emma's life stays away from the lime light till WE are ready to bring in out. I will have my House elf take the boys to my families property. Flip Flop" Dunena called to his house elf there was a loud pop and the house elf appeared in the small room "Take Bill and Ted ( the Llamas) to the New york estate and settle them in to the stables if father asks tell him is required till after the elections" Dunena watched as Flip Flop Bill and Ted ( the Llamas) disappear.
" as for the articles my father can be very help full in making sure that things never make it to the papers. So you still want the job?" Dunena asked
"and if so How dose this work?"

"Mr. Reid, do not ever assume that the other side will or will not do something. It's the most dangerous thing you can do to your campaign, not being prepared for anything," George cautioned him. "As for Ms Clinger, her knowing you could solve many problems as well."

Nodding as the man continued on with his desire to have Emma shielded from anything to do with the campaign and as Dunena sent the "boys" to visit their 'grandfather's home' as it were. "I can do what it takes but you'd better realize it's going to be up to her to want to be in the limelight as well," George reminded him. "I already have been on the job, Mr. Reid," George told him matter of factly, "You're booked for Cherry Clinger's show in three weeks, Rincy Wind's the next day after and you'll have a press conference the week after to explain your platform publically."

Dunena was sitting there as the coffee came in and dunena decided that as he listen to George that he would hire him and start the campaigne.
"Umm good that you been on the job" Dunena was pleased to know that a least the folly of a campinge was at least going to look good and official for a change.
" I will talk with Emma soon about this, bookings on shows umm ok public platform I did that at the public launch didn't I" Dunena was not so sure about what he had said as head fallen off the wagon that day and was less than with it.
" I really don't have a set platform I am just going with my instinct at the moment" Dunena felt now was the time to gent it out in the open that he had no plan.
" I don't have a plan really oh ganna need you to sign this" Dunena pulled out a folded document his father had had to lawyers draw up for his new manager something about confidently.
" lawyer stuff a contract for you position" Dunena said as he wanted to make sure he did run off and work for frump or any thing

George already knew two things, that Dunena Reid had no plan at all and that Dunena Reid had fallen off the wagon on the day that he announced his candidacy. Both of these had been reasons that George wanted to run Dunena's campaign. "Then you need to spend sometime making a list of what you want to change and why," George told him, making it clear that this was not a request and that Dunena was going to do it. "That is the exact reason why you did not share your platform with the public, because you have no idea what it is. You work on figuring it out, I'll then work on fine tuning it into something understandable by all levels of voters. Instinct's good but people are going to want to know where those instincts seem to be taking you, and in turn by voting you into public office, them."

Taking the documents from Dunena, George smiled that smile of his that really wasn't a smile but a knowing look. "Smart move, Mr. Reid. You're already thinking like a dependable Minister. However, you'll understand why I don't sign anything until my own solictors review it first," he responded, flipping through the document, scanning the contents. "It seems in order, but I prefer to err on the side of safety rather than rush in. I'll have these back to you by the end of this week."

Dunena slip his coffee that had been deliver to the table as he listen to him Talking about writing down plans and ideas now all Dunena need was come up with some this running for minister was hard work much harder than dunena thought it would be in his half hearted run or a least that how this had started.
"Well my instincts are good and I will come up with ideas and the reason why I want to run and the changes I hope to bring about by Becoming minster" Dunena mind was running thro ideas at this very moment as George looked over the contract.
"Yes well we will see if i make it to office. Yes your 'solicitors' should look at it and once that has been done we should meet again and start the campaign. so we will meet in about 4 days to cover all that been discussed today and get ideas down for the interviews" Dunena was ready to wrap up the meting till the contracts were signed.
