Accademia Magica di Italia

Founded in 1994, the Magical Academy of Italy has prided itself in being one of the top OWL/NEWT schools in the world. It focuses on a few subjects, with Defense Against the Dark Arts being one of it's main focuses. Other subjects covered include Potions, Transfiguration, Healing, Herbology, Magical Law & Government, and Charms. A school noted mostly for it's training for jobs in the Auror/Magical Law and Healing, Accademia Magica di Italia has been awarded by Italy's Department of Magical Education for being the School of the Year for 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Located in a secluded location in Tucany, the school is just far enough to be out of the eyes of Muggles, but close enough to be a part of the community. There are three houses that students are places in based upon their chosen field of study; Coraggio (Auror Study), Giustizia (Law), Guarire (Healing). Classes are conducted in a way that students from years 5-7 will be able to relearn basics, and gain extra knowledge in the field they wish to persue. Exams are taken in a practical sense, with a written exam being conducted on the last day of their final year before graduation, along with a final practical, real world exam.

Only two Headmaster's have ever served for this Male-Only school. The founder, Alberto Polinedrio, passed away on March 7, 2011, at the age of 103 years old. Taking the place as new Headmaster is Luca Papei Cannavacciuolo, a Tuscany native.

"I am proud to call Italy my home, and after travelling the world, it feels nice to be back where I belong. In my mother land. Education is a very serious thing, and I am proud to have taught at two very amazing schools. I have come out of retirement after being asked by the Italia Ministry of Magic to take the Headmaster job at this amazing school. I aim to gain School of the Year for 2011 and years to come, and I am honored to be a part of such a wonderful environment."

However in early November 2011 Luca stood down from teaching due to health concerns with Interim Headmaster Benito to cover until a suitable replacement can be found. Now in 2012 Luca is back but is he ready to take on the challenge?? Time will tell!
